35-21: Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown
This episodes were accumulated by a mixture of two questionnaires I did, polls on the blog and ranking of best seasons. For example, the top 5 seasons were voted by you guys to be MMPR, In Space, RPM, Time Force and Zeo. Then with that base, they were ranked up and down and mixed up.

100-80: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/100-80-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html
66-79: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/79-66-lavender-rangers-top-100-episodes.html
 66-51: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/65-51-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html
50-36: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/36-50-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html

35. From Out of Nowhere (In Space)
These two episodes were great in that it establishes the world of “In Space” with Dark Specter, Astronema, Andros and the Astro Megaship. Not only that, we see all the past villains together in one place. We went from something so terrestrial as cars the previous season to space ships and foreign planets, a space saga. What was awesome was to see Andros slowly turn around in accepting the Rangers.

34. Fowl Play in the Sky (MMPR)
This episode is important to me and it almost fell out of the countdown. Some people might think that 'oh, this episode doesn't belong here or how does it outrank this other episode?' but I don't think of it that way. It just belongs in the best episodes because it is so good. It might be underrated and have very little fighting in it, but Kimberly proves she is more than a just a 'valley girl' and can be brave when in a pinch. Alpha even helps in realistic airplane piloting instructions.

33. In or Out (RPM)
Scott joins Gem and Gema in a more offensive assault while Truman traps everyone inside the city while a bot sucks all the air out of the city. This episode makes fun of the trope of defending the city without getting old... for a second maybe.

32. Not So Simple (RPM)
Flynn wants to help but fails but doesn't give up. Gema writes in her dairy and discovers there is more to the eye to Flynn. Flynn and Gema work together on a zord and it turns out to be successful. While there is some romantic link with Flynn and Gema, Gem puts a wall against it pretty quickly and it is not mentioned again.

31. A Date with Danger (In Space)
Zhane and Astronema are paired off with hilarious results. Zhane saves Astronema from a monster who goes awry (and we never see again) and later Astronema disguises as a human to flirt with Zhane briefly. Later he gets an invite to a date. He gets new clothes and presents but Ecliptor sends a monster that makes him late and Astronema mad.

30. When is a Ranger not a Ranger? (MMPR)
Bulk and Skull shine as true heroes when the Rangers' memories are wiped and they discover their true identities finally. First Billy, Tommy and Kim lose their memories and replay some things they said in “Day of the Dumpster” with delightful whimsy. But of course, Bulk and Skull loose their memories in the end.

29. Shell Shocked (In Space)
The Ninja Turtles meet the Power Rangers. Nough Said! Okay, maybe I got to explain. Some Ninja Turtles fans still don't know about this. Basically, Saban got the rights for a short-lived series called Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, complete with a female Ninja Turtle (the only occurrence of Venus De Milo). Basically since the suit actors and voice actors were from Canada, the PriS crew had to get other suit and voice actors. D.E.C.A. Gets turtle-fied and Andros, being the resident de-truster distrusts the turtles and understandably as Astronema puts them under an evil spell.

 28. Doomsday Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
Originally set up as a finale, it sure felt final. December and January was a long wait for new episodes. Angel Grove makes Power Rangers Day, Rita comes down to Earth and steals the whole city. When fighting Goldar's zord, Titanus goes down and the zords too. The Rangers do save the day in the end, but what is cool is that Zordon asks them if they want to continue and Billy mentions other threats like criminals and such which opened some doors in my head but wouldn't fully be delved in until seasons later. Plus we even got a cameo from Tommy, seeing he still in town even though we don't see him around anymore.

27. Alien Rangers of Aquitar Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
Starting out the 10 episode Alien Ranger saga bridging Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with Power Rangers Zeo, the Rangers are now kids again and the Alien Rangers are introduced. The Aquitians look like something out of Star Trek and have water-y voices, we learn more out of the blue one Cestro and Billy becomes his normal age again.

26. Road to Cornith Part 1 & 2 (RPM)
These two episodes establish the tone of RPM. Two potential Rangers even end up in jail! Venjix has taken over the world, it has become a giant desert and all of humanity are under a dome city. We actually get more character development out of Dillon and Ziggy than the main three but that is forgivable.

25. Different Shade of Pink Parts 1, 2 & 3(MMPR)
Katherine is introduced early on and fans knew that she would replace Kim. Kim gets an offer to do gymnastics and heads off to Florida in a more proper farewell than Jason, Zack and Trini did. Heck, even better than Aisha or Billy's. Also the third season has shadows of the evil Green Ranger saga with Kat being under an evil spell by Rita and Kim losing her powers.

24. Always A Chance (In Space)
Johnny Yong Bosch returns to help Carlos out in a very good episode dealing with character. Carlos accidentally hurts Cassie and thinks of quitting which is a powerful and emotional episode.

23. Fighting Spirit (PRDT)
Originally I had “Gung Ho!” in the countdown but since it got really low votes, I decided to add this episode. I saw Jason David Frank at the Florida Supercon recently and he said it was one of his favorite episodes because he had to be sleeping in a coma. The episode introduces the infamous silver-stripe helmet Green Ranger as well.

22. Ninja Quest Parts 1, 2 & 3 (MMPR)
This was in the top 20 for a while but ultimately got out of it. Basically retelling the movie, this saga introduces Rito Revolto (who delightfully refers Zedd as 'Ed') and Ninjor. I actually liked the Ranger's journey to find the temple more true to character than the movie version. Also noticeably their clothes got sexier.

21. Return of the Green Ranger Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
The Green Ranger seemed to be all forgotten but we all got what we wanted: a showdown between the White and Green Ranger. The other Rangers were thrown into the past. This two-parter was obviously shot in Australia and we finally got to see extended footage of the Dragonzord from Zyuranger and also new footage of American actors reacting to it to boot.  My favorite scene was Tommy's hair being cut off and the clone being made from it. Also the first time I saw the Rat monsters that the Wizard of Deception creates in the past, I thought they were lame but to my surprise they were originally in the movie! Instead of the Oozemen, the Power Rangers fought the Rat monsters who Haim Saban thought were great. Maybe there were rat monsters from some old Israeli show he liked as a kid but that is just a theory, who knows.

Where are the Power Rangers in the Fictional Universe?

Posted on 22:13 by Unknown
With all the talk of all the Power Rangers fighting together in Troy's Dream (Referred to as the "Legend War" to Super Sentai fans) in the first episode of Power Rangers Megaforce, I came to think where could the Rangers be now in their fictional world. I will start backwards. I will not discuss the likeness of them having their powers. I am also not referring to the actors and their real lives and schedules. Most of these assumptions come from the last time we saw most of the characters on the show (either their own finales or teamups).
Power Rangers Samurai
The last we saw the Samurai Rangers, they had gone their separate ways. Kevin was trying out for the Olympics, Antonio went to catch a big fish, Mia went to cooking school, Emily and Mike went to Emily's home, Lauren returned to wherever she came from and Jayden stayed with Jii at the Shiba House. They know of the RPM Rangers.
Current Status: Parted Ways

Power Rangers RPM
The last we saw Summer, Tenaya and Dillon, they went to travel the world. Ziggy and De. K began a relationship in Corinth. Flynn was in charge of technology. Scott was in the military. Gem and Gema presumably stayed on Corinth. In Samurai, it was revealed the RPM world was in another dimension but that is still up to debate according to fans. They know of the Samurai Rangers.
Current Status: City of Corinth in Other Dimension
Power Rangers Jungle Fury
Last we saw Flit was working with RJ at Jungle Karma Pizza in their city of Ocean Bluff. Casey were teachers at the temple and Dai Shi and Camile were now students. Theo and Lilly got together as a couple. Dominick and Fran went globe trotting. So far that we have seen, the Jungle Fury Rangers know of no other team.
Current Status: Ocean Bluff and Pai Zhua Temple

Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
Everyone went their separate ways. Tyzonn returned to his planet with his lady love. Mac had become human and went traveling with his dad. Dax went back to stunt work, Rose went back to being a professor at an university, Ronnie went back to racing and presumably Will went back to spying. Mac's dad did get a dragon scale from the Mystic Force Ranger's Fire Heart and they know of the Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force and Mighty Morphin teams.
Current Status: Different parts of the Earth

Power Rangers Mystic Force
Nick went to visit his adoptive parents with his real parents Udonna and Leanbow. Everyone else remained in Brairwood working at the Rock Porium. Xander later appeared in Operation Overdrive, he met members of Mighty Morphin, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, and Operation Overdrive.
Current Status: Brairwood

Power Rangers SPD
The series took place in the year 2025. Sam, the Omega Ranger returned to his time in 2040 with Nova Ranger. In the last episode, Jack left the team, Sky became Red Ranger and Bridge became Blue Ranger. In Operation Overdrive, the Sentinel Knight brought Bridge the Red Ranger from an undisclosed time. Bridge explained that Sky took Doggie's place as Doggie took Birdie's place and Birdie retired so Bridge became Red. Bridge met members of Mighty Morphin, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Mystic Force, and Operation Overdrive. The SPD Rangers did meet the Dino Thunder Rangers but their memories were wiped.
Current Status: The Future

Power Rangers Dino Thunder
Last we saw Connor goes on to start his own soccer camp, Ethan was doing something tech-y and Trent had graduated from High School. Kira appeared in Operation Overdrive and met members of SPD, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive and Mighty Morphin. Kira already knew of the Wind and Thunder Rangers of Ninja Storm. Kira had gone to the future and met the SPD Rangers but her memory was wiped. She also fought alongside the SPD Rangers during her time as a Ranger but same thing happened. Kira was currently a recording artist. Tommy Oliver was last seen being a teacher in Reefside. The Dino Thunder Rangers also got a refresher course on all the Rangers before Dino Thunder.
Current Status: Parted Ways, Reefside

Power Rangers Ninja Storm
Last we saw them all was in Dino Thunder, Shane and Dustin were Ninja Academy teachers. Blake was a Motocross star. Hunter was a teacher at the Thunder Academy. Cam was still in the headquarters. We saw Tori in Operation Overdrive, where she met members of Mighty Morphin, SPD, Mystic Force and PROO. The Wind and Thunder Rangers already met the Dino Thunder Rangers.
Current Status: Blue Bay Harbor

Power Rangers Wild Force
We last saw them in Wild Force, Alyssa was a teacher, Taylor returned to the air force, Max and Danny went traveling, Merrick went wandering around with Zen-Aku and Cole decided to use his talents to help animals in need wherever he roamed. Princess Shayla went back into the sky with the Animarium. Cole met members from Time Force, Lightspeed, Lost Galaxy, In Space, Turbo, Zeo, Aquitar and Mighty Morphin.
Current Status: Went Separate Ways

Power Rangers Time Force
We last saw them all in Wild Force. Jen, Trip, Lucas and Katie returned to the future in the 31st century. Wes and Eric remained as Silver Guardians in Silver Hills. The Time Force Rangers all knew Lightspeed Rangers and Wild Force Rangers. Wes and Eric met members of Mighty Morphin, Aquitar, Zeo, Turbo, In Space, and Lost Galaxy.
Current Status: The Future and Silver Hills

 Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
Last we saw most of them was in Time Force where Chad was a lifeguard, Dana was a doctor, and Kelsey was still doing extreme sports. Joel was on his way to his honeymoon. Ryan's life was not spoken about when he returned. Carter was seen in "Forever Red" with his Lightspeed jacket but he had returned to fire fighting in Time Force. The Lightspeed Rangers knew the Galaxy Rangers and Time Force Rangers. Cole met the Red Rangers of Mighty Morphin, Aquitar, Zeo, Turbo, In Space and Wild Force.
Current Status: Went Separate Ways

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
In the last ep of PRLG, the Rangers were all on Mirinoi. In Lightspeed, they somehow quickly came to Earth to help the Lightspeed Rangers without explanation how they got there. In "Forever Red," Leo did take out his saber from the rock in Mirinoi. The Galaxy Rangers knew of the Space and Lightspeed Rangers. Leo met Red Rangers of Mighty Morphin, Aquitar, Zeo, Turbo, Time Force and Wild Force. Bulk was also last seen in Mirinoi but then returned to Angel Grove in "Forever Red" and then ended up in the "Samurai" city.
Current Status: Mirinoi

Power Rangers in Space
At the end of Space, Andros, Zhane and Karone went along with the Earth Rangers. In Lost Galaxy, Karone joined the Galaxy Rangers and was last seen in Mirinoi. The Space Rangers returned to Earth. In Forever Red, Andros was seen on Earth and had a new Astro Megaship from KO-35. TJ was representing Turbo in the Forever Red episode and was on Earth. Presumably Ashley, Cassie and Carlos are still on Earth and maybe in Angel Grove. TJ, Ashley, Cassie and Carlos knew Tommy, Justin, Adam, Tanya, Katherine, Kendrix, Leo, Maya, Damon, Kai and Mike. Andros and TJ know Jason, Aurico, Tommy, Carter, Wes, Eric and Cole.
Current Status: Separate Ways, Earth and KO-35

Power Rangers Turbo
Presumably TJ, Ashley, Cassie and Carlos are still on Earth and maybe in Angel Grove. Tanya was last seen working at a radio station, and Katherine was last seen practicing ballet. We all know where Tommy ended up. In Operation Overdrive, we discover Adam has a dojo in Angel Grove. We last saw Justin living with his father, he is now an adult. Katherine, Tanya, and Justin know  TJ, Ashley, Cassie and Carlos knew Kendrix, Leo, Maya, Damon, Kai and Mike. TJ and Tommy know Jason, Aurico, Andros, Leo, Carter, Wes, Eric and Cole. Adam knows Tori, Kira, Bridge, Xander and all the Operation Overdrive Rangers. Tommy knows the Dino Thunder Rangers.
Current Status: Separate Ways, Angel Grove

Power Rangers Zeo
Tommy last became the Zeo Ranger I Red in Forever Red but we now know where he is. We last saw Rocky in Turbo where he graduated. Trey was last seen in "Countdown to Destruction" of In Space, fighting evil. Jason was last seen in Angel Grove during the Turbo movie and still on Earth in Forever Red. Everyone else must've stayed in Angel Grove. Tommy and Jason met TJ, Andros, Leo, Carter, Wes, Eric and Cole. The Zeo Rangers knew the Aquitar Rangers, former Mighty Morphin and new Turbo Rangers. Tommy knows members of the teams Mighty Morphin, Aquitar, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, and SPD. Adam knows members of  the teams Mighty Morphin, Aquitar,Turbo, In Space, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive.
Current Status: Angel Grove, Triforia

Aquitar Rangers
Most likely they still live on the planet of Aquitar. Aurico met TJ, Andros, Leo, Carter, Eric, Wes, and Cole. All the Rangers know Jason, Tommy, Katherine, Aisha, Adam, Billy, Rocky, Tanya and Trey.
Current Status: Aquitar

 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Here is the big one. Last we saw Jason was in Forever Red, he didn't disclose what he did for a living. Billy was last seen in Zeo living in Aquitar. Trini and Zack were last heard going to the Peace Conference and never mentioned again. Kimberly was last heard living in Florida, noted by a letter in Zeo but last seen in the Turbo movie. Tommy was last seen in Dino Thunder (psychically, not like in SPD just in suit) living in Reefside. Adam was last seen in Operation Overdrive, he said he had a dojo in Angel Grove. Rocky was last seen in Turbo having graduated from Angel Grove high. Aisha was last heard of living in Africa from a letter in Zeo. Katherine was last seen in Turbo currently living in Angel Grove. Jason knows members of Zeo, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed, Time Force, Wild Force and Aquitar. Tommy knows members of the teams Mighty Morphin, Aquitar, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, and SPD. Adam knows members of the teams Aquitar, Turbo, In Space, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive. Aisha, Trini, and Zack only know members of MMPR. Katherine knows members of Aquitar, Turbo and In Space. Rocky only knows the Aquitar Rangers and Justin. Billy only knows all the MMPR, Zeo and Aquitar Rangers. That we saw Katherine never met Trini or Zack. Technically Rocky, Adam and Aisha met Trini and Zack. Same goes for Aisha and Jason knowing each other. Kimberly presumably met Justin and Tanya but never met the Aquitar Rangers nor Trey. Up to Zeo, Billy knew all the most Rangers. Tommy now knows a majority of Rangers.

Petition for the Aquitar Rangers to be included for merchandise for Power Rangers' 20th anniversary

Posted on 18:50 by Unknown

The Power Rangers are having their 20th anniversary now in 2013. The Aquitar Rangers were from the 10-episode mini saga "Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers" in 1995. They are often ignored except for Saban Brands including the Red Aquitar Ranger with the 20 Red Rangers. The goal of this petition is for them not to be forgotten in anniversary merchandise. They were forgotten in the 15th anniversary merchandise and seem to not be included with past rangers in the sound effects for the Gosei Morpher. The goal is for them to be Ranger Keys, which should be released next year.

For 2007, Bandai released 13 Red Ranger figures which did not include the Quantum Ranger nor the Aquitar Ranger. And in the new Gosei Morpher, no sounds mentioning the Aquitar Rangers have been found.

The Red Aquitar Ranger has been included part of the 20 Red Rangers for the Licensing Expo, Power Morphicon 3, and Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and other public events.

Red Aquitar Ranger included here, but not on Powerrangers.com.

And included in a wall mural. Fellow Power Force member Bruno above.

Alien Rangers figures were released once and that was it. So Saban Brands does seem aware of the Aquitar Rangers but Bandai have ignored them after their arrival. An example, as part of Power Force--SB wanted us to help with some of the trivia. They gave us seasons and the Aquitar Rangers were included in that. The goal would be Bandai not Saban Brands.

I was inspired by Futurama, where Kwanzaa Bot passes out a book called "What the hell is Kwanzaa?"

PMC3: The Aquitar Rangers and I!

Posted on 16:21 by Unknown
As some of you might remember, I got to interview Alan Palmer a year ago or so and he is so awesome. He's gay and married (3 times to the same guy! Hope it sticks now!) with 2 kids. He has done shows before, he has written and starred in. He is down to Earth and shy about the Con. I had to encourage him and Raija Baroudi (Delphine/White Aquitar Ranger and also voice of Jara in Beetleborgs) into stuff I will explain later.

Alan Palmer was there Friday and Saturday and participated in the "Unsung Heroes" panel on Friday. Video on the panel is available on this blog and my Mythical Destiny YouTube channel. Alan said he wished his character would talk more and explained about his mask makeup. Both Raija and Alan liked the makeup. Raija had longer hair at the time and had to spool it through a hole in the mask thingy and she said it was a bit of a bother.

[Picture above thanks to Jill Sylvan]
Here is Raija Baroudi with my pal Jill. Raija is half Kuwait/half Irish, born in Ireland and has a wonderful accent! She is so much fun and she loves being a female leader, the first! She is also proud of being Jara. She was hanging and talking to Catherine Sutherland. She was there Saturday and Sunday. When the David Yost panel was going on Saturday, Walter Jones dropped in, then Steven Cardenas, Catherine Sutherland, and Nakia Burrise. So I decided to go get Raija and Alan who were in the big room with autographs. So I encouraged them to go on stage with David Yost.

[Picture above thanks to Jay of MorphinLegacy]
So Raija did and hugged him. On Sunday, Raija was late for the AmeriToku panel for Beetleborgs and VR Troopers. I urged her to go, but she had fans waiting. She said she'd go to the restroom and then go, I dunno if she did go, I think she did. She also was present for the 18 and over Scott Page-Pagter Audio Retrospective in the audience with Paul S., and Morrigan Mahan. I will discuss more of that later. Raija and Alan are both a delight!

PMC3: Chat with Guest of Honor Nonaka Tsuyoshi

Posted on 14:59 by Unknown
UPDATED 8/23/12
Pictures thanks to Raz of Rangerboard.
On Sunday at the PMC, I was looking for a friend and bumped into Nonaka Tsuyoshi smoking a cigarette. At the show, I was not able to speak to him because he was always drawing and had a long line. Even though he speaks little English and I speak even less Japanese (Jay of MorphinLegacy would tell you when I said 'Hello' instead of 'Thank you.'), we were able to communicate. He was impressed with my Sentai knowledge. He says he has been working with Bandai for over 20 years and he was plucked from product development school.

I had lots of questions about color choices Toei and Bandai had. He said that Silver and Gold are always popular for additional Rangers because they are well.. 'shiny.' He said how toy sales and ratings go up for Silver or Gold Rangers in Sentai. But in 2007 for Gekiranger, Bandai wanted something new. Paraphrasing what he said, he said that they were like... 'we need a new color! What color would be good? Which haven't we done? Oh okay purple!' He says GekiViolet and GekiChopper did not do well. But BeetBuster and StagBuster of Go-Busters are doing extremely well. They have gone through the roof, big success. I was concerned if they would do it again (Red, Yellow, Blue, Silver and Gold mix) and he said they (Bandai or Toei I guess) would not do it again because it would not be as successful every year. Also I think kids would get bored and it wouldn't have the same impact. I told him I loved purple and wondering if they would do it again. He said he wasn't sure, he was hesitant to say 'maybe.'

So I asked him about the color changes in Gokaiger. He said 'it was crazy.' He was not involved as he is just the designer but he said it caused a frenzy in Japan. From how he said things and what he was saying, I got the impression we might not get a  male pink, female black or green anytime soon in a regular show. I think the thinking behind it is that if you are going to have Red, Blue and Green, they have to be male, or if it is Red, Blue and Black or Red, Green, and Yellow. That if a woman was green or blue, it would leave less for the guys. But they can always use Silver, Gold, Crimson, Cyan, etc. I did not ask him about this aspect. And I forgot to ask about the Spirit Rangers. But as for Gokaiger, he was impressed I knew about the all-pink change in Gokaiger vs Gavan and he laughed when I said 'short time.' So I assume it was indeed on purpose the scene was short because of the stigma behind men in pink. We did not discuss it because he had to go and same in the last conversation we had.

I asked him about the mega mode for Samurai and why Gold had no blue like his ShinkenGold suit when in Mega. He said it had to do with team thinking and color coordinating. That what looked good in an overall scheme for the six. Also he (or some other higher ups) confirmed to some other fans that Gold Shogun would not appear on the show. As for Shogun mode, I asked about the Kanji on their heads. As Red Shogun's symbol looks like the Kanji for flame. I spoke to him through an interpreter late in the day inside the convention center and I don't think they understood me well. He said it was meant to 'imitate' Kanji but didn't really mean anything. I knew this. I asked if the others meant anything. They said Yellow did but nothing major, a very rare minor used Kanji but I didn't really understand what they said it meant or if they even said it. I said how I was surprised the girls had Shogun, he said it was the Saban company's request for the whole team to have Shogun mode.

He said he was no one special, he was surprised he had fans. I explained (best I could) that the 80's brought so much merchandising, TV shows with toy lines, and mass producing, so we kids of the 80's and 90's saw many many toys and looked at these toys all the time and how could we not fall in love with the designs? I mentioned Transformers and Go-Bots, he nodded. He asked what I thought about the differences between Transformers and Super Sentai. I told him even kids can tell the difference and told him about my nephew. That the Transformers are way more complicated than the Super Robos and Super Sentai Super Robos are more brighter and colorful. He said 'Zord,' and I asked him what they called the zords in Japan, he said 'Robo.' I asked "Even the animals? Like Lion? Tiger? Wolf?" He said yes.
