The Blurry Line Between Super Sentai and Power Rangers

Posted on 13:36 by Unknown

I have been planning this post for a while, since June actually. I know this is a controversial topic. There seems to be a divide between Power Ranger fans and Super Sentai fans. There are indeed fans that like both Power Rangers and Super Sentai but it is a small group. I do know that at least more than half of Power Force know Sentai and like both PR and Sentai, others just know Power Rangers but have no problems with Sentai. When some people mention that Power Rangers and Super Sentai are the same thing, most fans get angry. It can be both sides, the Sentai fan could get insulted or the Power Ranger fan would get insulted. Power Rangers fans mostly like when shows take a departure from the Sentai, hence the dislike of Samurai and consensus of love for RPM and In Space.

But I bring this up because now with Super Megaforce using footage and material from Gokaiger, we are starting to see Super Sentai from before Zyuranger (other wise Pre-Zyu or Pre-MMPR) spill into the US. Jetman Figuarts are starting to be available in the United States. The new Universe of Hope cards (that have been delayed a SECOND time to July 26th) have Goranger and Sun Vulcan characters on it. Also, Dairanger seen in a marketing teaser for Super Megaforce, an episode of Megaforce and US Ranger Keys made for them. So it's all starting to come together, it is getting harder and harder to tell the difference between them... just kidding. But you know what I mean, they are getting closer and closer after years of being distinctly different. At least visually.

Differences
Obvious differences are that one series is in English set in the United States but the other is in Japanese set in Japan. Where as the majority of Super Sentai members being Japanese (Kyoryu Cyan being White and Houhouranger being half Chinese and other characters like that), Power Rangers usually have diverse groups of different ethnicities (especially with New Zealand and Australian actors). Power Rangers of course have less teams than Power Rangers and Dairanger suits were not used but MAYBE that will change come Super Megaforce. Also, there VRV Master of Carranger upgraded to a Ranger as Phantom Ranger in Power Rangers Turbo. Titanium Ranger, the Spirit Rangers and A-Squad Rangers are exclusive to PR. Also, the Battlizers (save for the SPD one), new cycles and other different items and armors. In Japan, it has been a tradition to have a movie annually of the current series (usually double-billed with a Kamen Rider movie) whereas in the US, the last movie was Turbo. And now Teamups which are annual tradition, are also in theaters. Teamups usually are part of the episode count in Power Rangers, save for "Clash of the Red Rangers" which was a TV Special.

Similarities
Obviously they use the same footage. Basically we are dealing with a team of 3 or 5 young people who transform with either a handheld item or wrist brace (etc.) and fight grunts, then a monster of the day. The monster of the day grows and they enter robots that combine to save the day. And they usually get new members added to the team. Also the rotating actors year by year.

What Power Ranger fans don't like about Sentai
"Too Goofy." This is what I hear often when people who never seen Sentai talk about Sentai. It is the cultural differences. People find it weird. What can be weird? Is it the cross-dressing? Is it the Anime-like visual effects at time (Abaranger, Go-Onger, etc.)? Is it the talking dinos (Abaranger) or talking cars (Go-Onger)? Could it be that the whole cast starts dancing and singing at the ending titles? (Hurricanger, Magiranger, Go-Onger, Kyoryuger, Go-Busters, etc.) But it doesn't happen every year. Or could it be the balloon-monster (Go-Onger) or the cutie monster (Boukenger) or various ridiculous monsters? A lot of people don't understand it if they don't understand the Japanese culture.

What Super Sentai fans don't like about PR
"Too water-down and specifically aimed for children by scared American parents." Super Sentai fans find that Power Rangers has been 'watered down' or a softer simpler version of Sentai. That it is made in fear that kids would imitate violence (hence explosions that appear behind people in the Disney era) and imitate behavior. Also, all the death and consequences are cut out. Many Rangers have died in Sentai, there are characters that are perverts or otherwise, there is guns and real bullets and oh also blood. The above picture from Mystic Force, Necrolai is looking at piles of feathers that used to be the Power Rangers thanks to a MotD, in Magiranger, the monster created a parasite in people's stomachs that killed them.

MORE after the 'jump.'

Power Rangers 20th Anniversary Merchandise
Super Sentai are starting to slip into Power Rangers through merchandise, mostly because Gokaiger covers the past 35 years of Super Sentai and some elements have been slowly seeping in for the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers. Andy of Action Card Game Facebook page says these were approved by Saban and that they are just shoutouts to Sentai fans, doesn't mean they will be in the show.
Red Megaforce Ranger (with VulEagle of Sun Vulcan -- Rangercrew.com exclusive)
Black Megaforce Ranger (With MidoRanger of Goranger --Rangercrew.com exclusive)
Blue Megaforce Ranger (with AoRanger of Goranger -- Rangercrew.com exclusive)
Yellow Megaforce Ranger (with Ki Ranger of Goranger-Henshin Justice exclusive)
Pink Megaforce Ranger (With MomoRanger of Goranger-- Henshin Justice exclusive)

At the SDCC preview, TokuNation reported that the ShishiRanger of Dairanger key was at the Bandai display.

Last year at SDCC, they had the Ryuuranger helmet to the right.

Red Hawk Figuart is already available at Toysrus.com and Black Condor Figuart will be available soon. They are from Jetman.

Power Rangers in Korea
In South Korea, as I have mentioned before, show Super Sentai show with the Power Rangers name. In the opening sequence theme song, they use the Super Sentai song (for example Boukenger) but replace the name Boukenger with Power Rangers. Why would Bandai use the Power Rangers name but use Super Sentai show? Well my theory is that it is better to use Asian faces better than American ones to localize the show, also maybe they don't want to use the Japanese names but American names to have it be more accessible. The Koreans don't like Japanese, it is the main reason that Shinkenger wasn't adapted because it was 'too Japanese.' Believe it or not, Bandai (the entire company) counts considers profits of Super Sentai and Power Rangers internationally all clumped as 'Power Rangers.'

Lavender Ranger's Opinions
People might get insulted but I do see Power Rangers and Super Sentai not as the same exact thing but in the same grouping and genre. Power Rangers is a rare series in a class of their own, as it is imported but no dubbed. In the case of Digimon, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and other Japanese material, it is just dubbed. Sometimes its localized and they change some things around and basically the same series, just translated. With Power Rangers, they take Super Sentai footage, put on the mute button and edit it and not use all of it. They use their own actors and create their own stories and move it all around. So in a sense, Go-Onger isn't RPM and RPM is not Go-Onger but they do look alike. With Samurai and Shinkenger, they are very similar, same story, same twists, same plot lines, but different actors and different order and pace of said twists and plot. I am NOT saying that they PR and Sentai are the SAME EXACT thing. But I am saying since they use the same footage, same costumes and themes, so they are in the same family, closer than brother and sister, maybe like brother and brother like a year apart.

I am not saying that Power Rangers are becoming Super Sentai and Super Sentai is becoming Power Rangers. I am not saying they ever would. But I don't like all this fighting. I want the fandoms to unite. I think both can co-exist in peace, ha ha. I hate the thinking 'this one is better than another.' Maybe one could be handled more like the other or visa versa. I have been told by some fans that I unite the fandoms. The point of the name 'Henshin Grid' was 'Henshin' from Sentai and other Tokusatsu and 'Grid' from 'Morphin Grid' from Power Rangers. I guess healthy competition is not a bad thing. But completely hating one is like hating the one you love, if that makes many sense. They are made from the same cloth in my opinion.

Power Force: Clarifications and the Future

Posted on 20:44 by Unknown

I don't even know how to start this post. I wanted to clarify things but maybe it will still be misconstrued. Basically I will be clarifying any misconceptions about Power Force.

For people who do not know, I am a member of Power Force which was created by Saban Brands to have 20 members who were going to be like spokespeople for the PR fans and provide feedback for merchandise and the show. Saban Brands has a representative that communicates with us, I will keep the person's name mum but this person has told me that SB keeps them in the dark probably because of the closeness to us. Man this is hard to write without pronouns. Fine, I will use the 'he' pronoun. He says that Saban Brands probably keeps him in the dark because he is close to us. He is at a 'need to know' basis and so are we.

Official Statement:
Power Rangers' 'Power Force' is an exciting new super fan program designed to honor the fan community, engage Power Rangers super fans and reward them with exclusive access to content, news and more. Through their own relationships and influence within the Power Rangers fan community, 'Power Force' members will help to build and expand the Power Rangers brand and its far-reaching initiatives.
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/saban-brands-launches-power-rangers-power-force-super-fan-program-164294136.html

Some other fans have told me or I've seen them write that they thought we would get behind the scenes stuff on the show and our opinions heard. Some of us in PF did think that to but it hasn't quite been that. Here are some e-mails topics I have received:
  • To promote full episodes on Powerrangers.com
  • MMPR Takeover at Hot Topic
  • Promote Powerrangers.com new look
  • February 8th Mega Monday in New York
  •  Megaforce on HULU
  • MMPR Design Contest from We Love Fine.com
  • Power Rangers on Instagram
  • Power Rangers MEGA Album Playlist
  • Vortexx Red Ranger Twitter Chat (Canceled)
 Free stuff we have gotten:
  • 3 months free on HULU Plus
  • Morphsuits Power Ranger morph suit
  • Exclusive picture of Megaforce cast
  • Rangerize yourself with Kideo.com
  • Power Rangers Super Samurai Full Season on Blu-Ray
  • PMC Gift Bag
And we got to submit trivia questions for the Power Rangers Trivial Pursuit coming out this summer, we are suppose to get credit for it and a free copy for ourselves.

CLARIFICATIONS
Some people thought that I got my behind the scenes Super Megaforce stuff from Power Force but that is not true. We have not gotten any show info from Saban Brands. All those info and pics are from other fans that spot them on Instagram or other sources. Also Fury Diamond has a source on these things. And any questions we have go to our representation and he tries to get it to the higher ups or whoever but so far no solid answers. And some of my e-mails have gone unanswered. Some of the PF members told me they have experienced the same.

THE FUTURE
Some fans have expressed to some of us in Power Force that we should speak up to Saban Brands because of this whole budget and quality thing of Super Megaforce. Some feel we shouldn't rock the boat, some like getting free stuff and doesn't wanna risk it, some don't know it would make a difference and some haven't said a thing. I have sent some e-mails with these concerns but there has been no answer. I'm just going to wait and see. If anyone is discerned about this and feels bad about the outlook between fans and Saban Brands, I say don't. I mean, I'm really grateful for everything so far. And I think things will work out in the end. Not every fan will be happy with the results of anything anyway, I mean people are still upset about the Disney Era, "Forever Red", Samurai, or other things. So I say Just Relax!!!!

List of Power Rangers toys my Grand Nephew asks me for that don't exist

Posted on 18:06 by Unknown
I thought I would make a list of Power Rangers toys that my 3 year-old Grand Nephew Jaiden (not named after Jayden the Red Ranger) asks for that do not really exist.
"Big Yellow Ranger Pillow"
He calls stuffed toys 'pillows.' Back in the day, all the Rangers got stuff dolls but they weren't as big as the ones they have now that are 18 inches and talk. He has Red and Green and he wanted big Yellow Ranger. There is a tiny Yellow Ranger plush figure and a medium size one. But I don't see them making 18 inch ones, the are male figures--red, green and blue or black instead of green. Yellow was the first color he ever expressed like for.

"Mini Transparent Yellow Ranger Battle Ready figure"
Today he had his transparent mini Battle Ready Red Ranger and he said, "I want Yellow of this." He wanted a translucent mini Yellow Ranger but it doesn't seem to be made. Upcoming mini Battle Readies are transparent Black and Blue Rangers, also Robo Knight but it doesn't seem to be a Yellow Ranger. Above is a transparent Yellow Ranger from the Mighty Morphin 2010 toy line that was a set.

"Little Goldar"
He likes the Mini Battle Ready figures and he wants a Goldar one. So far the only villains are Lord Zedd and a planned Vrax.

"Little Robo Knight"
Zerboz has Power Rangers Samurai currently, He has a lot of them. He wanted Robo Knight the other night but they haven't been announced to have Megaforce rangers yet.

"Pink Ranger Monster Truck"
Jaiden is obsessed with Monster Trucks and he really wants a Power Ranger Monster Truck.  He put a Pink Samurai Ranger on his pink monster truck Madusa. Basically he wants Pink Ranger to have a cycle.

What is the point of this? I just want Bandai and Saban Brands to be aware of what kids want.

If Lavender Ranger adapted Gokaiger into Super Megaforce

Posted on 20:21 by Unknown
UPDATED 3/27/13
Because of new revelations, I decided to make a new post
http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/03/2-spoilers-adapting-gokaiger-into-super.html
THE FOLLOWING ARE LAVENDER RANGER'S OPINIONS, TAKE WITH GRAIN OF SALT
I personally know nothing about Super Megaforce, the second season of Megaforce other than Gokaiger footage being used, GokaiSilver being the Sixth Ranger, GokaiOh and other robos being used and the main villains from Gokaiger being related to Vrak. But this is my own personal opinion to what should be done and/or what I would like. I know most likely this won't be done as the second season already started shooting this week (I think).

So there will only be 20 episodes like Megaforce and 2 specials. Maybe Megaforce will have a teamup special with Samurai in between seasons. Also I am going with the assumption that Gokaiger suits will be used even though FuryDiamond says his source says the same suits of Megaforce will be used. This post includes Gokaiger spoilers, so if you never seen Gokaiger, beware. I also had to skip some tribute episodes (Jungle Fury, Operation Overdrive, In Space, etc.) in order to fill a story point. I will use Power Ranger terms instead of Super Sentai terms for the most part.

SPECULATION
Episode 1
Gokaiger Episode: 1
Usable Footage: GokaiOh has been to seen in some trailers of Megaforce so pretty sure it will appear. Anyway, Gokaiger's first episode's useable footage is the Legend War, the 'Megazord' zipping around against the armada of villains and then the Rangers transforming and then changing to Mystic Force and Samurai.
My Explanation: So the Legend War or whatever they will call it (Mega Battle?) will be first and then  Gosei will give the five rangers new powers as they gave up their own with the other Rangers. I would switch Jake to Blue and Noah to Green. Explanation? When MMPR went to Zeo, Zordon said something changed with the sub crystals, so Gosei can say because the big battle, they had to change things. Why the switch? Gokai Green is the brainy one and Gokai Blue is more stalwart fighter, which is better for Jake.

Episode 2
Gokaiger Episode: 3
Usable Footage: Episode 2 of Gokaiger is more of a filler so Episode 3 can be used, when they receive the 'Mystic Dragon' or whatever they will call the dragon. So usuable footage is the Blue, Pink and Yellow Ranger becoming Black Dino Ranger, RPM Ranger Black and Black Aquitar Ranger. Then they fight the monster as Mystic Rangers and get the dragon.
My Explanation: Since Blue, Pink and Yellow transform into White Rangers but two of them are Sentai, they can always transform into White Wild Force Ranger, White Rhino Ranger and White Aquitar Ranger. They can have a former Mystic Force Ranger guest star, whoever they can get since they live in Australia and New Zealand. I think one or two are in America.

Episode 3
Gokaiger Episode: 5
Usable Footage: The Rangers transform into RPM Rangers without Red and then with Red, SPD Rangers and get a SPD zord.
My Explanation: The Rangers also become Dairanger, which was never PR so they can always reshoot that with another team. The guest in the ep is Doggie Cruger, they can always have PR version or another SPD actor. Red and Yellow are in the US and the majority of the others are in Canada. I totally forgot that plot wise, SPD was set in the future, said 2025. In Operation Overdrive, when Sentinel Knight brought Bridge, the Red Ranger to 2007---they mentioned the future but not why he selected him. My own storyline would be that the SPD team was brought in for the big war and when they give up their powers, they became stuck in present time (whenever it might be, 2013 or 2014). So the Super Megaforce Rangers don't have to go to the future.

Episode 4
Gokaiger Episode: 9
Usable Footage: Episode 8 and 10 of Gokaiger are fillers. The Rangers find Anamirum and transform into two non-PR teams so they can always reshoot that. They later gain the Red Lion Zord and use it on their Megazord. I skipped Episode 7 of Gokaiger which has Jungle Fury in order to fulfill a plot point (Basco), save time and because JF has no actual new zord. But they can skip any other (Turbo, Lightspeed, etc.).
My Explanation: Pretty straightforward. Rick Medina (Cole) said kids might be confused if he returned as Cole if they know him as Deker. SB will have to pay a bill to ship one of the WF cast unlike Jungle Fury, Mystic Force and SPD.

Episode 5
Gokaiger Episodes: 11 and 12
Usable Footage: I squeeze those two episodes because to make more space for other episodes. In these two episodes they become MMPR and Lost Galaxy. Then the others without Blue transform into random Rangers, so they can reshoot the non-PR ones. They become Samurai Rangers and  then gain Samurai mode of their Lion/Megazord. In this episode, they meet the character who most likely will become Vrak's brother.
My Explanation: In this ep, they used the female Red Ranger but Australian native Kimberely Crossman (Lauren) is in the US so regardless they have to ship a Samurai Ranger over.

Episode 6
Gokaiger Episode: 14
Usable Footage: 13 is another filler, 14 is a Turbo tribute. They transform into MMPR and Turbo Rangers (our turbo, they do transform into Sentai's Turbo Rangers but that can't be used). There is no Megazord battle.
My Explanation: Most people want Justin back, but it is up to them and who can do it. This is still kinda filler-y so SB can always add some villain stuff from past or future episodes that were skipped.

Episode 7
Gokaiger Episodes: 15 and 16
Usable Footage/My Explanation: This episode introduces Basco, but who knows if they will use him. The footage has the 15 'Sixth' Rangers fighting the Gokaiger and then de-morphed humans. So if they do just use Goseiger suits, they have to reshoot anyway.

Episode 8
Gokaiger Episodes: 17 and 18
Usable Footage/My Explanation: Silver Ranger debut. Hopefully they already casted him now. If they use the Goseiger suits instead of Gokaiger, they would have to reshoot scenes with GokaiSilver, like White Ranger (of Dairanger footage) with the MMPR. Episode 18 shows off his zord. He has the MMPR, Time Force and Dino Thunder powers.

CLICK BELOW TO LEFT TO READ MORE

Episode 9
Gokaiger Episode: 19 & 20
Usable Footage: In Episode 19, Silver gains armor. Lots of Gokai Green in this one, so if they do not use him, they'd have to reshoot a lot of this. Episode 20 is the Lost Galaxy Episode. Basco uses Magna Defender, Wolf Warrior, Shadow Ranger and White Mystic Rangers against the Rangers. The five transform into the Lost Galaxy Rangers.
My Explanation: They can bring back Leo and Mike or anyone else. I squeezed these two episodes (19 and 20) together to save time.

Episode 10
Gokaiger Episode: 23
Usable Footage: Lightspeed Rescue Episode. Pink and Yellow become Mystic Force and a non-PR team. Five Rangers become Lightspeed Rescue. If they do use Titanium Ranger, they can reshoot that. Episode 22 was a filler. Episode 21 (Operation Overdrive) to fulfill a plot point (Basco stealing powers) but they could skip PRLR if they can't get any of those actors at that time.
My Explanation: They can bring back Dana of PRLR or whoever else.

Episode 11
Gokaiger Episode: 25 and 26
Usable Footage/My Explanation: Ninja Storm Episode. Red, Blue and Yellow become Dino Thunder and a non-PR team. In the footage, the Hurricanger return and transform and fight along side the Gokaiger. But if they can't get all 3 Ninja Storm Wind Rangers, then they can't use the footage. The Rangers also receive a new zord. Episode 24 was a filler.

Episode 12
Gokaiger Episodes: 31 and 32
Usable Footage/My Explanation: Lots of usable footage here as the Rangers have to fight the Extra Heroes that Basco has. Also, they could use the cannon from episode 32 in here to save time. This is a Zeo episode as the five become Zeo Rangers. The Gokaiger episode had OhRed and OhPink, which would mean Tommy and Kat but most fans want Tommy back for MMPR. "Basco" villain has stolen 3 greater powers but they are non-PR, in order to save time, they can say they are In Space, Jungle Fury and Operation Overdrive or whichever teams they are unable to locate.

Episode 13
Gokaiger Episodes: 35 and 36
Usable Footage/My Explanation: Episode 33 was a Dairanger episode (non PR) and 34 was a filler of sorts. These two episodes are the RPM episodes. They could use Scott (Eka Darville) who had to be a fake name for his voiceover in the Samurai teamup. In the forage, they become SPD but also non PR teams so they can skip that. They become RPM and use a new zord. My take would be them going to the dimension where Venjix took over.

Episode 14
Gokaiger Episodes: 37 and 38
Usable Footage/Explanation: They mix in the showdown between the main villain and the Rangers and their own Greater Power. I hated to skip the 'In Space' episode but this is just an example, the 'Basco' character can steal other powers and we could have an In Space episode. Blue can also destroy the 'Sid' cyborg character. They destroy SPOILER Vrax's brother.

Episode 15
Gokaiger Episode: 40
Usable Footage/Explanation: Time Force episode. The Gokaiger traveled back and rescues a temple from Metal Alice and inadvertently leads to rescuing "Ninjor." I'm sure people will want Wes and Jen back for this one.

Episode 16
Gokaiger Episode: 45 and 46
Usable Footage/Explanation: Ninjor can come back and give them the Aquitar Rangers Greater Power. Why is Ninjor connected to the Aquitar Rangers? Well, in the Alien Ranger saga I watched again---they did say that Ninjor gave them their powers long ago. And this could explain what happened to Ninjor after a long time. Maybe Master Vile trapped him in a jar.

Episode 17
Gokaiger Episodes: 42 and 43
Usable Footage/Explanation: These episodes are Green-centric and they defeat the red villain 'Damaras.' Also Basco tells them they have 2 other powers.. Let's say for the case of this speculation, Basco steals the Aquitar powers and also gets the first Megaforce powers (Goseiger, if separate) so that makes five powers he stole (Jungle Fury, Operation Overdrive, In Space, Aquitar and Megaforce). It doesn't have to be those. It could also be Lightspeed Rescue, Turbo, Lost Galaxy, and Zeo if they can't find actors for those because those don't have zords.

Episode 18
Gokaiger Episodes: 47, 48 and 49
Usable Footage/Explanation: The final battle to defeat 'Basco' and get the Greater Powers that he stole. Preferably five in order to do the part where they get approval from one member of each team. In Gokaiger, they got approval from Flashman, Changeman, Sun Vulcan, Maskman and Fiveman. They each transformed into one of each team. Pink became Green Flash, Green became Change Griffon, Red became VulEagle, Blue became Blue Mask and Yellow became Five Yellow.

So in this situation, they can transform into one of Jungle Fury, Operation Overdrive, In Space, Aquitar and Megaforce. But like I said before, it doesn't have to be those teams. It could also be Lightspeed Rescue, Turbo, Lost Galaxy, and Zeo if they can't find actors for those because those don't have zords. So in my fantasy, Pink can be Pink Overdrive Ranger, Green can be Black Aquitar Ranger, Red can be Red Space Ranger, Blue can be Blue Jaguar Ranger (Jungle Fury), and Yellow can be the Yellow Megaforce Ranger. Or if using Operation Overdrive, Lightspeed Rescue, Turbo, Lost Galaxy and Jungle Fury; it could be Red Overdrive Ranger, Pink Lightspeed, Blue Turbo, Green Lost Galaxy and Yellow Cheetah Ranger. And then they could get those actors like Rose (Rhoda Montemayor), Corcus (Alan Palmer), Andros (Christopher Lee), Robo Knight, and Theo (Aljin Abella) to appear and approve of them. Also in Episode 49, they defeat the green villainess.
Episode 19
Gokaiger Episode: 50
Usable Footage/Explanation: The Rangers go against the whole army. Mammoth Ranger (MMPR Black) shows up. So we can have one of the MMPR actors in this one. Silver becomes Green MMPR Ranger and gives his shield to the Red Ranger to defeat villains. There is the whole 'Greatest Treasure in the Universe' thing that can grant a wish but the Rangers will no longer exist but who knows if they will use that.

Episode 20
Gokaiger Episode: 51
Usable Footage/Explanation: The Rangers decide not to the use the treasure and defeat the bad guys on their own. The Rangers use powerups in this episode (Shark Mode Red Samurai Ranger, Super Megaforce Blue, Yellow Cheetah Ranger Master Mode, Green Ranger SWAT Mode, Legend Mystic Pink, and Silver Gold Mode). They also transform into 1 of all 35 teams in Sentai, which they could reshoot or use parts of.

Halloween Special
The monster from Gokaiger Episode 33 looks ghoulish and they can use him for a Halloween special and use it as a clip show because the episode is more of a Dairanger tribute so they can reshoot battle sequences or not use it.

Christmas Special
Gokaiger Episode 44 can obviously be used for the Christmas special. It is where the Silver Ranger becomes a 'Christmas' Ranger. In the ep, all of them become Yellow Rangers which they can also use. Most likely SB will use this as a clip show like the Samurai specials.
So that is my take. It doesn't necessarily have to be this way and for sure will not be like this. If it was ideal, I would had done 36 episodes or more. But oh well. I also hate that I skipped episodes that would have Rangers becoming one color all which will probably only be the red ones in this adaption but what can be done?

My Power Ranger-y Year (2012) in Review

Posted on 20:41 by Unknown
It has been 8 days into 2013 and I was going to write a year in review but I've been busy being sick and having strange allergies, but now I've been able to collect my thoughts. So this post is just writing and no pictures. Just to warn people who don't like reading long essays. Okay this is just a big thank you note to Saban Brands, Haim Saban himself, Power Ranger fans, former and current Power Ranger actors and my fellow Power Force members. So this year has been amazing regarding Power Rangers. When 2012 started, I just didn't expect all the things that happened to happen. I was looking forward to Power Morpicon, which was my first and was awesome but I had no idea about Power Force in January of 2012.

When I first heard of Super Fans Power Force, I was weary. I wasn't sure about it or what it was, at first I think it was going to be lipservice fan club for thousands of adult fans. But it turned out to be an exclusive club of 20 representatives (which I like calling it) and according to Saban Brands, there is much more to come in 2013. So far we have gotten inside info on merchandise, exclusive high school Megaforce picture, a Morphsuit, Super Samurai Blu-Ray and a back pack of goodies at PMC and a cool exclusive pin! Also PMC was awesome because it was the first time I was there and it was so great meeting lots of actors I used to look up to (like Catherine Sutherland, Johnny Bosch, Stephen Cardenas, Nakia Burrise, etc.). Also got to meet the young tikes Samurai actors.

But there was also low points in 2012. I am about to get a bit personal. My mom, who I haven't spoken a lot about on this blog, has always been sick since I was a kid. She is a whole medical book of illnesses. She had breast cancer in the 90's and now has Diabetes, Asthma, her lungs are not doing so good (she never smoke in her life) and a bum leg. She had oxygen tanks before but this year she now depends on it, having to be on the oxygen tanks practically 22 hours a day. Also, at home she has a crutch and going outside, she has a wheelchair. And basically she only goes out for doctor's appointments now. Going to the emergency room is common for my mom and she has been hospitalized about four times in 2012. Depressing but she is hanging in there. I share this to give you guys a window into my life. When people complain about errors with the websites or things missing, they forget human fans do this out of their free time. I am not complaining. Just explaining.

Anyway, I am looking forward to 2013. More about my mom than anything, hoping she gets better. She is a fighter. She is my true hero. As for Power Rangers, people ask me if I am looking forward to Megaforce. I try not to judge shows before they start. I am not expecting big times for the show itself but I am going to enter in it with an open mind. As I have said before, I didn't mind Samurai so much, I didn't hate it. But what I am looking forward to in Power Rangers is mostly Power Force and what Saban Brands has in store for the 20th anniversary. Also the 20th anniversary collectibles are looking great and I am sure to pick some up.

Posted on 15:07 by Unknown
WeLoveFine.com has had My Little Pony and Jem contests for fans to design their own shirts. Here the judges are Elie Dekel, Saban Brands president (who've I've met) and Paul Schrier (Bulk). Contest ends in February. I will be submitting stuff as well.

Winners and Losers of 2012: Power Rangers and Super Sentai

Posted on 18:41 by Unknown
I decided to do posts for the end of the year in review if it isn't already evident by the last posts. Here are the winners and losers in Power Rangers and Super Sentai. I grouped them together because you will see why, they work together.
WINNERS and LOSERS of 2012
5. DVD Buyers
Winners:
We have gotten a flurry of DVDs this year: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers three seasons box set, Zeo-Lost Galaxy box set, Beetleborgs dvds, VR Troopers dvds, and Ninja Turtles: Next Mutations dvds. Also Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Super Samurai dvds and complete season of Super Samurai.
Losers:
Saban Brands gave out Blu-Rays to Power Force members without asking if they had Blu-Ray. One disadvantage. Also, fans don't like that Zeo-Lost Galaxy DVD box set is not available on sale yet other than Time-Life but we are sure they will be out soon. No Power Rangers Samurai season one complete season yet though.
4. Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai
Winner:
#1 Kids action show and high toy sales, Saban successfully made Power Rangers a hit with kids once again.
Loser:
Well the real loser is Power Rangers Samurai, not Nick. Nick is just fine. Well the real real loser is kid fans who love the show and are treated by too many repeats and too many months of waiting for new episodes. For info on what I think should have done, check my Year in the Review on Scheduling of Power Rangers.

 3. The Color Pink
Loser:
This past year, the Pink Samurai Ranger got shafted when it came to Mega Bloks, with no turtle zord nor her own hero pack. Plus her regular figure was cancelled. In Sentai, there was no Pink Ranger this year with Go-Busters. They did get a 'Pink Buster' but it was just a crappy costume ala AbarePink.

Winner:
This past year, Pink Ranger did get a costume and a Mega Mode mask in the Samurai line. Also, the MMPR Pink Ranger seems to be getting love in 20th anniversary collectibles and Halloween costumes for women. In the coming year with the new sentai Juuden Sentai Kyoryuger, the lone female ranger is Pink and her mecha, unlike other Pink Ranger's mecha is COMPLETELY Pink.

2. The Color Yellow
Winner:
In the past year, Yellow Ranger got stuff in MegaBloks that the Pink Ranger did not in Power Rangers Samurai like Ape Zord, Super Mode Hero Pack and multiple figures. Also, she is often grouped with the male figures unlike the Pink Ranger. She also got a Morphsuit.

Loser:
For Samurai Halloween Costumes, Yellow Ranger did not get a costume. This is common on teams with a Pink Ranger. Also there was no adult Yellow Ranger costume, sans the Morphsuit. Samurai Yellow's Shogun Mode was not seen in action on the show. This upcoming year, there will be NO yellow Ranger for Juuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013), making Yellow also the loser for 2016 when it is adapted for Power Rangers.

1. The Fans
Winners:
It has been confirmed that we will be getting the Legend War for Power Rangers Megaforce but not clear at which point. Also we have Power Force, 20 influential fans selected to represent fans and give feedback to Saban Brands. Also the 20th anniversary will be giving new merchandise and also a new Power Morpher! Also the Power Morphicon had Saban as a presence and it was just plain awesome.

Losers:
Lol just kidding... uh.. not really. Well, you guys know what. We are always unhappy about something. Look at Nick, where we don't even get promos anymore. Or look at PRS itself, where adult fans are not happy. But that is just part of being a fan. Not everyone is going to happy because there is always different opinions on how to run things.
