Seasons 8-12 DVD Box Set Art Revealed

Posted on 14:21 by Unknown
Thanks to Rangercrew for the picture of the boxart for the Seasons 8-12 DVD set. Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, and Dino Thunder. People noticed that on the bottom there is Quantum Ranger, Zeo Ranger One, Wild Force, Lightspeed, Mighty Morphin and Time Force Red Rangers, a continuation of the ones in the box set of Zeo to Lost Galaxy as a reference of Forever Red. I suppose the next set would be SPD to RPM (5 seasons), because Samurai to Megaforce will be included in the 20th Anniversary Red Ranger head and they belong to Lionsgate. I suppose Saban only let Shout Factory have Samurai to Megaforce only for the 20th anniversary set. Director Brian Ward says he will be creating new discs and menus for Samurai to Megaforce for the anniversary set.
November 12, 26 disc set.

TOP 10 EPISODES: Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 15:00 by Unknown
This episodes were accumulated by a mixture of two questionnaires I did, polls on the blog and ranking of best seasons. For example, the top 5 seasons were voted by you guys to be MMPR, In Space, RPM, Time Force and Zeo. Then with that base, they were ranked up and down and mixed up. I know not everyone will agree with the order nor which episodes were picked but I think these pretty much sum up what we love about Power Rangers. I believe these episodes also had superb acting, writing and moments. Some changed the genre and some stuck to it. Most of them just rocked our worlds.

13. Changing of the zords (MMPR)
12. Return of an Old Friend Parts 1 & 2 (MMPR)
11. Rangers Gone Psycho (In Space)

Here we go, the top ten...

10. White Light Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
There were bets in the playground to who was going to be the White Ranger. Fans wanted it to be Tommy very badly. There was sighs of relief when the White Ranger took off his helmet in the Command Center. Originally Brad Hawkins (Ryan of VR Troopers) was set to be the White Ranger and Jason David Frank was to have his own show but because of Tommy's popularity, they switched places. JDF (at the Florida Supercon last week--July 5, 2013) thinks everything turned out fine. A moderator at Florida Supercon joked, "Maybe Brad Hawkins doesn't." As much as I love Hawkins, I think so too.

 9. The End of Time Part 1 & 2 (Time Force)
At first these two episodes were at 19 but quickly went up, it was at 6 for a while until getting comfortable at nine. The finale of Time Force follows its counterpart of Timeranger with the opening of vortexes but similarities end there with Eric not dying, Nadira helping with the birth of a child and Ransik's battle with the Rangers. We also see Ransik's Toxie-like face. Time Force was a dark but delightful season. One gripe is that we never saw Jen and Wes kiss but that is what made the relationship powerful, leaving it to our imaginations. Also Wes makes up with his dad and joins the Silver Guardians.

 8. Green with Evil Parts 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 (MMPR)
The first sixteen episodes established the world of the Power Rangers and day in and day out routine. The first part of Green With Evil shook all that and Green Ranger rocked our whole world. Let's admit that Tommy was way better when he was evil, why else would they bring back the 'evil' Tommy back so often? Dragonzord came in the last episode but still pretty memorable. Best multi-parter ever. These episodes fluctuated from top 5 to the teens and then rested at 8.

 7. Day of the Dumpster (MMPR)
The episode that started it all. We all know about the pilot with Audry Dubois but there were other scenes shot for this episode and some shots were still used from the pilot. There is a reason why “When Is A Ranger Not A Ranger?” and “Mega Mission” mirrored some dialogue from this episode because, they are well remembered by us. The episode established the rules of the majority filler episodes such as the civilian battle against grunts, the morphing sequence, fighting grunts in suits, fighting the monster of the day, the said monster growing, it being defeated by zords and the wrap-up. The episode was in the top 10, then stayed in the teens for a while and I had to pull it editorially into the top ten.

6. Once A Ranger Parts 1 & 2 (Operation Overdrive)
While Operation Overdrive was a disliked and was disappointing in writing, acting and overall tone. This episode was a delight to see many former rangers return, especially the now adult Johnny Yong Bosch as Adam.  Like I said before, teamups rank pretty high for fans. Lord Zedd and Rita's son Thrax (who we have no idea how came to being) allies the four villain organizations and take away the Overdrive Ranger powers. Sentinel Knight puts together a team of five veteran Rangers: basically the last four Disney Seasons and one ranger from the MMPR. This two-parter started out in the middle of the countdown but you guys voted it up all the way to the top ten.

 5. Forever Red (Wild Force)
Considered one of the best episodes but it is one of the most debated because the powers, in how they got them back. I don't really care. What I do care about is the Beetleborg suits used as part of the Machine Empire but it doesn't seem to bug many people. Also bothering people is the CGI Serperntera and its size, also it being destroyed by Cole on a motorcycle. So basically Cole is recruited by past Red Rangers to fight the Machine Empire on the Moon who plan to use Lord Zedd's Serpentera to take over the Earth.

4. Power of Pink (Lost Galaxy)
The second part of the In Space/Lost Galaxy teamup, it has what is considered the first death in Power Rangers but technically Mike was thought to be dead in the first two-parter of Lost Galaxy and Magna Defender dying eariler on. But unlike Mike and Kendrix, Magna Defender stayed dead. The death of the Kendrix did rock our world. Cassie was meant to take Kendrix's place hence her dancing on the Wildcat Galactabeast. But ultimately Karone took her place and an ending had to be reshot with the Space Rangers in suits.

3. To the Tenth Power (Lost Galaxy)
In the polls, this was number one. Considered the first teamup ever but "Ranger from Two Worlds" was technically the first teamup, with between the Zeo and Aquitar Rangers. But this was the first one that became a yearly tradition, to be interrupted here and there either because of money or guild problems. The Space Rangers return to help fight the Psycho Rangers who cause a lot of trouble.

 2. The Mutiny Parts 1, 2, & 3 (MMPR)
I don't think it is right to not have at least ONE Mighty Morphin episode in the top five at least. Our whole world view was shook when Lord Zedd arrived and rocked it. Parents complained that Lord Zedd was too scary for kids but all he did was have a snake on him, shake around his staff and used his red vision to see the Earth. Also cool in this episode was seeing the Tyrannosaurus and Dragonzord turning against the Rangers, those easy to defeat putties, the Rangers without helmets in the Command Center, the Rangers on ATVs, Bulk and Skull's new mission to discover the Rangers' identities and of course, the Thunderzords.

1. Countdown to Destruction Part 1 & 2 (In Space)

The number one quoted multi-parter ever, I believe that fans hold these two episodes up to anything that comes after it. It also causes controversy among fans over Zordon's energy wave that annihilated all past villains but did not wipe out any future space aliens we after this episode. Not only the Space Rangers fight the forces of Dark Specter but the Alien Rangers, Phantom Ranger, Blue Senturion and Gold Ranger fight on other planets. It is like everything that happened in the past six seasons accumulated at this end. And when people criticize Jonathan Tzachor, I remind them that he directed this two-parter.

20-11: Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 12:00 by Unknown
This episodes were accumulated by a mixture of two questionnaires I did, polls on the blog and ranking of best seasons. For example, the top 5 seasons were voted by you guys to be MMPR, In Space, RPM, Time Force and Zeo. Then with that base, they were ranked up and down and mixed up. I know not everyone will agree with the order nor which episodes were picked but I think these pretty much sum up what we love about Power Rangers.

50-36: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/36-50-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html
 35-21: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/35-21-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html

20. Hogday Afternoon Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
This two-parter almost did not end up in the top 20 but I think it is too important to ignore. It was an end of an era. The Power Coins (either Ninja or Dino was not clear) were gone and the Command Center was blown up, which was the coolest moment in children's television ever. Not only it ended the Alien Ranger saga, but also the Mighty Morphin name all together and it was also Yellow Ranger-centered episodes. Aisha was out, Tanya was in and Zeo was up next.

19. Wild West Rangers Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
One of my favorite two-parter of season two and notice that The Wedding two-parter isn't here. As important as Rita and Zedd's wedding was, it was mostly suit actors running around a theater with bad effects and re-hashed megazord battles. Wild West Rangers gave us a funny twist to the time traveling trope and Kimberly as leader, also cool western-twist to the Power Ranger suits. The tortured twists to the ancestor's name and the wrong colors shining on the Power Coins were forgivable.

18. Belly of the Beast (RPM)
This episode was the last headed by Eddie Guzelian who was the executive producer until he was let go and replaced with Judd Lynn. In this episode, the Rangers return to a factory to destroy the Doomsday bot but end up reprogramming it into Whale Zord. Dillon and Summer almost kiss in the episode, much like Jen and Wes. Tommy and Kim actually kissed.
17. The Power Transfer Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
I was 12 during season 2 and I noticed quickly that Jason, Zack and Trini weren't around anymore and footage and the back of replacement actors were inserted. When Aisha, Rocky and Adam came in
"The Ninja Encounter," it was pretty obvious they were the replacements. But it was forgivable as they gave us a couple of episodes to transition from one to another. But the end where the previous trio was sent away so quickly was a bit bittersweet but it was killer to see Serperntera premiere. The pyramids and weird imagery of the planet was strange until I watched Dairanger.

16. Lost and Found in Translation (Dino Thunder)
Some might be wondering why this episode is here but to be honest when I first saw it, I was upset. I was upset because I had discovered Super Sentai in 1999 and watched many of the Sentai series from Gaoranger and on before the Power Rangers adaption and I felt it was blasphemy to say they were watching Japanese Power Rangers when it originated in Japan. But now in retrospect, I see it as trying to get fans that were not into Sentai to give it a try. Connor at first is not for what he sees (Abaranger, which was a pretty goofy and dark series to start with) because it is 'goofy' but then gets into it. ABC Family promotion made it sound like the actual Sentai actors would be in the show interacting with the Power Rangers but Doug Sloan online clarified it wasn't the case.

 15. Green Candle Parts 1 & 2 (MMPR)
We discover that when Tommy was under Rita's evil spell, he touched some kind of wax that we never really saw and she made a candle form it that will take his power away. Tommy worries about asking Kim on a date and at the end, losing his powers, he gets a yes from her and a kiss as well. I like that these two episodes not only highlighted Tommy but also aspects of the other Rangers. For example, Billy used his smarts to make a portal to the Dark Dimension, Jason didn't want to give up on Tommy when fighting Goldar, Zack used his reasoning skills to get Jason out of the Dark Dimension and Kimberly was a supportive girlfriend and a strong woman as well. Trini's only highlight here is getting rid of Bulk and Skull but at least it worked.

14. Green No More Part 1 & 2 (MMPR)
With a confusing time plot hole, Tommy's tenure as the Green Ranger is rendered moot and with Goldar to boot. I'm rhyming again, I know. I didn't want the Green Ranger to dominate the majority of the top 20 but the episodes kept staying in the top 20. As a kid I wasn't a big fan of Tommy but I have to admit these episodes were one of the best moments of the first few seasons.

13. Changing of the Zords Parts 1 & 2 (MMPR)
While I didn't consider it that important, fans did vote it up to the top 20. It originally was in the 20's. The biggest thing is Lord Zedd entering the Command Center which rocked our world. He had Kimberly as ransom and wanted the Rangers to pilot his new Shogunzords but we all know what happened in the end.

 12. Return of an Old Friend Parts 1 & 2 (MMPR)
Rita's most evil plot yet, she kidnaps the Rangers' parents and they give up their coins in a very emotional scene. But the one gleam of hope is that Jason still has the Dragon coin, we all yelped when we saw it, admit it. So Tommy returned, but with limited power but we were all happy he came back, complete with tan.

11. Rangers Gone Psycho (In Space)
This one kept going up the countdown, it started somewhere in the 30's and came up here. It only established the Psycho Ranger saga but I guess fans just can't let it go. If you haven't seen it, basically Astronema has been brainwashed to be evil and to distract her brother Andros, she sends five evil Rangers that take info from the Rangers to learn how to fight them.

Check out the top 10!

65-51 Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 06:10 by Unknown
Continuing with the top 100, these were accumulated by two questionnaires and various polls on here Henshin Grid and my own opinions. You know that not everyone will agree with all of these or the order.

100-80: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/100-80-lavender-rangers-top-100-power.html
66-79: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013/07/79-66-lavender-rangers-top-100-episodes.html

 65. Trial By Fire (PRLR)
Captain Mitchell teaches Carter a lesson, one that he probably had to learn more times over as the Rangers continued shooting before thinking all season long.

64. Perspective (SPD)
You can say everyone has an opinion or has their own view on things, in this episode the 5 Rangers tell their own story on what occurred... usually with them in the spotlight. But then they discover the truth... that a ball of light helped them. Even though footage is repeated over and over again, it is a pretty funny episode.

63. Facing the Past (PRLG)
I accidentally had this episode marked as a PRLR episode but it is from PRLG, I hope people didn't confuse it with "A Face from the Past." The Rangers need help and Karone, being the new member but also has inside info on powers and such, helps Leo get a new power that leads to the Battlizer. She must face her past and that means evil Astronema.

62. From Deep in the Shadows (PRLR)
The fabulous Titanium Ranger debuts. I am still confused as to why the morpher didn't work with Carter and did with Ryan but it doesn't matter.

 61. The Mighty Mega Battles (PRLR)
Silly name, great episode. In revealing new battlizers (a pizza cutter and ice cannon) but pretty entertaining with the Joel/Jennifer love triangle. Joel gets jealous of a new scientist guy (the actor was a body builder and personal trainer) but it turns out he is Fairweather's brother. We also see a stereotypical nerdy Joel.

60. Katastrophe (SPD)
Kat gets her own episode where she becomes a Ranger. It is a fun and entertaining episode, even though they say her morpher only last for 1 hour or something like that. Fans consider it a disposable morpher. In Dekaranger, her counterpart appeared for 2 episodes and in Gokaiger, for much longer.

 59. Beginnings Part 1 & 2 (SPD)
These two episodes well establish the world of SPD and the characters, especially Jack and Sky. It has some iffy moments but more or less entertaining beginning.

58. Wormhole (SPD)
This episode was accidentally shown early in Canada and aired in the US later on and was also a bonus episode in certain SPD DVD volumes. Even though Dr. Tommy Oliver is in this episode, he is not voice by Jason David Frank but Jeffrey P. (Trent). Many people have criticized that the Rangers made a circle and said nothing would break though but in mere sections, it dissolves. My co-webmaster Mike said both this episode and History never occurred because their memories were wiped but I think Doggie and Kat's memories were not.

 57. History (SPD)
The Dino Rangers are brought to the future and discover various things about themselves but ultimately their memories are wiped but ours aren't.

56. Passing the Torch Part 1 & 2 (Turbo)
Trade in four for another four. Carlos and Ashley were introduced before, so here we get to know Cassie and TJ and they help out Kat and Tommy. In the end, we see the old Alpha 5, Zordon, Dimitria and Alpha 6 all together. And is Justin chopped liver? I don't think so.

55. Endings Part 1 & 2 (SPD)

The A-Squad show their true colors and get taken down. Jack leaves the team. Nova gets a brief cameo and takes Sam back with her. We see a Disney-only Megazord battle and a showdown between Grumm and Doggie. In the end, Sky finally becomes the Red Ranger.

54. Legacy of Power (PRDT)
Bascially a clipshow but it ties in the past as canon to Dino Thunder.

53. Back in Black (PRDT)
Tommy is back and he might be 'old' but he proves he is still a pretty entertaining dude.

52. Reinforcements from the Future Part 1 & 2 (PRWF)
Teamups rank pretty high in this countdown. Not only do we get the Time Force Rangers back but Ransik's past is tied with the Mutorgs, we get a badass battle sequence with Jen and potential love with Taylor and Eric. Plus, Ransik gets cured of his Toxie face.

 51. Chase into Space Part 1 & 2 (Turbo)
This episode also bounced around in the countdown, from the 30's to 80's and then firmly in the 50's. This was the transition episode from Turbo and In Space and what I consider the first real finale that felt like finale. The Rangers lose their Turbo powers and the Power Chamber and abandon Justin, who finally lives with his dad and his deadbeat dad gets a job. Also thank god NASADA doesn't exist in the real world, letting the 'Power Rangers' take their shuttle with no appointment by the word of a little kid and not even checking if they were four teenage jokers.

79-66 Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 17:46 by Unknown
 UPDATED 7/13/13 9AM EST
These were accumulated by two questionnaires and various polls on here Henshin Grid and my own opinions. Not everyone will agree with these, I know. This is inspired by IGN's Top 25 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes.

Check out 100-80

79. Burning at Both Ends (PRDT)
Not mentioned a lot but one of my favorite episodes of Dino Thunders, it has a great balance of comedy and drama, also changing Power Rangers conventions. Trent, now completely overwhelmed by the evil influence of his Dino Gem, joins forces with Mesogog. After tricking the Rangers into believing he has reformed, he presents them with brand new Dino ATV's as a gift of goodwill, but Tommy discovers his trick.

78. A Matter of Trust (PRLR)
77. Pizza Slice of Life (Jungle Fury)
76. Party Monsters (Samurai)

 75. Bad to the Bone (Jungle Fury)
In a underrated episode, Lily changes from sweet good girl to a 'bad girl' because of a monster but she kicks butt in this episode and also includes the RJ-werewolf.

74. The Lone Wolf (PRWF)
73. Shift into Turbo Parts 1, 2 & 3

 72. The Thunder Strangers Part 1, 2 & 3 (Ninja Storm)
The Thunder Rangers reveal themselves and their zords and cycles that they stole info from Cam's Tsunami Cycles. They have teamed with Lothor and think Sensei is responsible for their adoptive parents' death but in reality, it was Lothor.

71. Prelude to a Storm (Ninja Storm)

70. Ryan's Destiny (Lightspeed Rescue)
On a mission to discover who he is, the awesome Titanium Ranger leaves the team but then discovers who he really is... is a hero.

69. Destined for Greatness (Lost Galaxy)
68. Robo Knight (Megaforce)

67. Mega Mission (Megaforce)
There is only two Megaforce episodes in this list since only 9 episodes has aired at this time. I am sure some more would be cherished by fans soon enough. Even though some fans criticize the use of some "Day of the Dumpster" dialogue and situations, the episode does a good job of establishing the characters and the writing for the season.
66. A-Bridged (SPD)

100-80 Lavender Ranger's Top 100 Power Rangers Episodes

Posted on 15:50 by Unknown
These were accumulated by two questionnaires and various polls on here Henshin Grid and my own opinions. Not everyone will agree with these, I know. This is inspired by IGN's Top 25 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes.

IGN article: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/03/top-25-mighty-morphin-power-rangers-episodes

100. A Father's Footsteps (Wild Force)
Alyssa hides her ranger identity from her dad, he wants to be proud of her but is found dissapointed of her until he sees the White Ranger using his family moves and then is happy for her. This episode jumped from 100 to the 80s and 90s until it stayed back in 100.
99. Down and Dirty (Ninja Storm)
98. Stranger Within Part 1 & 2 (Mystic Force)
97. A Gem of a day (Ninja Storm)
96. Out of Luck (Operation Overdrive)

 95. Light Source (Mystic Force)
I accidently left this episode out of the list in the polls but it was in the second questionnaire. It was selected it from the first questionnaire as one of the top episodes. Even when it premieres a battlizer, which usually is not considered a quality episode and it has some decent original battles.

 94. Things Not Said (Operation Overdrive)
I might not like Operation overdrive but I personally believe this is one of the best episodes, aside from Once A Ranger. It might not been a surprise for older fans or those that got spoiled, the episode was handled very well. Mac's dad was acting suspicious all season and especially in “Out of Luck,” but it could had been anything. The whole robot thing can be taken as a metaphor for adoption. When a child believes their parents are their birth parents and then discover what they thought was there life was a lie. Also Mac's attitude change was also delightful.

93. Forest for the Trees (Samurai)
92. Sticks and Stones (Samurai)
91. To Earn Your Stripes (Jungle Fury)

90. Welcome to the Jungle (Jungle Fury)
A pretty good start to Jungle Fury. Unlike Ninja Storm, we actually see the main three in the fabled temple for longer than just one scene and get back story on Dai Shi. Not only that their first mentor dies and we get a hilarious scene of mistaken identity when they look for their new mentor. Jarrod releasing Dai Shi was a little convoluted for my taste but it set the tone of its humor and writing.

89. Legendary Catastros (Mystic Force)
88. Lionheart (PRWF)

87. The Strange Case of the Munchies (Super Samurai)
This episode is a fan favorite because it is where fans consider the majority of both seasons of Samurai as a copy-and-paste translation of Shinkenger and this episode deviates from this. Emily gets a bad-girl makeover and lots of character development while the others get comedic moments. Jayden is also proven to be driven by his duty. Bulk and Skull finally meld in more with the cast, which fans wish there was more of.

86. Curse of the Wolf (PRWF)
85. Gate Keeper (Mystic Force)
84. Fight Fire with Fire (Super Samurai)

 83. Clash of the Red Rangers (Samurai)
This is technically a TV special and hasn't ever aired split into two episodes. It aired before Super Samurai started and fans were confused in its placement in continuity. Also the confusion over RPM being in another dimension, if the Scott we see here is from another reality that we know from. Even though the ideal was that the whole RPM cast would had been involved, at least they had Eka Derville (who has confirmed he performed under a psudeyom). I think it was a good use of the Shinkenger movie, Sginkenger vs Go-Onger and a random episode.

82. Return of Thunder Part 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Ninja Storm)

81. Clash of the Megazords (Turbo)
This episode moved a lot from 50 to 63 to 90 and then to 85.The Phantom Ranger is dying, as his ruby powers the Turbo Megazord, which Divatox had repaired and sent to Earth to destroy the Rangers.

80. Double-Edged Blake (Ninja Storm)

UPDATED 7/26/13 9:30PM EST
Check your local stores now!
Like I did last time, I will be posting the pics of cards that the Power Rangers Action Card Game Facebook will post. Below is the related link of the last time I did this. So come back here or go to Facebook. It is 2 cards per day except for Super Rares and Ultra Rares. Friday is Super Rare day and Villains are on Sundays. It also seems that we are only getting one Lightspeed card (Red), one In Space (Silver), and one Lost Galaxy (Magna Defender) judging by the numbering. SPD seems to at least have 3. Also it is awesome we are getting more MMPR Ranger cards.
